ACCOMMODATION

Due to meetings related to the Finnish Presidency of the European Union during the second half of 2006, hotels in Helsinki are fully booked in September. It is highly recommended that PIMRC'06 participants place their hotel reservations as early as possible.

The number of hotel rooms reserved for PIMRC'06 participants will be reduced as follows: 10% of the remaining unreserved rooms will be released on 10 June and 50% of the remaining unreserved rooms will be released on 30 June. Reservations after 7 August 2006 will be subject to availability.

Please note that the hotel bookings require a credit card guarantee. No pre-payment will be charged for the hotel booking, however, the credit card will be charged in case of late cancellation or no show.

When doing your hotel reservation, please indicate your possible preferred hotel choice(s). If you reserve a shared double/twin room together with another participant, please indicate the hotel room booking request in both online registration forms. If you wish to extend your stay outside the available dates, please indicate it in the Remarks field of the online form or contact PIMRC 2006 Conference Office by e-mail (pimrc2006congrex.fi).

Change or cancellation of reservation made at the latest on 7 August 2006 will be accepted without any charges. Cancellation of reservation made after the deadline (7 August 2006) will cause a charge of one night's hotel fee plus a handling charge of 30 EUR. Changes to reservation details can still be made between 8 August and 25 August 2006, but they will cause a handling charge of 30 EUR.

All changes to reservations must be done by contacting the PIMRC 2006 Conference Office (pimrc2006congrex.fi).

SECURITY SCREENING IN PIMRC’06 CONFERENCE HOTELS

Due to the 6th ASEM Summit (Asia-Europe Meeting, ASEM) at the level of Heads of State or Government will take place in Helsinki on 10 and 11 September 2006, there will be Security screenings at Scandic hotels Crowne Plaza, Scandic Continental and Radisson SAS Plaza.

Every person entering these hotels will have to go through the obligatory security screening. This is to ensure that nobody carries items that are classified dangerous or that could endanger the safety of the event.

When arriving to the hotel, your luggage will be scanned and you will be asked to pass through a metal detector gate. Identification (passport or other ID with picture) will also be needed.

Please note that these security measures can result in queues when arriving to the hotel. Traffic arrangements around the hotel can also be exceptional during 10 and 11 September.
