The Centre for Wireless Communications of the University of Oulu is one of the premier creators of future wireless communication technologies globally. According to CWC’s operating principles, scientific advancement is best produced in multiform interaction and sharing of knowledge with the global research community, research partners and the society. Therefore, CWC continuously strengthens its relations with its existing research partners and actively seeks for new challenging research opportunities in areas of wireless technologies.

CWC’s research partners include a broad variety of organisations such as national and foreign companies, national governmental organisations, multinational organisations, and foundations. In national and European projects, the research group cooperates with numerous companies, universities, research institutes and e.g. standardisation organisations.

In all of its research projects, CWC aims at cooperation on multiple levels which best serves the interests of all concerned parties and the society at large. The simplified figure below illustrates the information and material flows between CWC and its operating environment. As a member of the global research community, CWC interacts e.g. with other academic institutes and companies in order to accelerate scientific advancement and expand the horizons of current knowledge by producing high-quality research results.

As an additional element in the services provided by CWC, projects can be built to include exchange of equipment or researchers. CWC is also an experienced provider of training for partner organisations. To ensure the applicability of its research results, CWC aims at foreseeing future communication needs and real-life problems in the society. This necessitates frequent communication with research partners having wide knowledge on the latest developments. Ultimately, CWC strives for producing solutions that not only contribute to scientific advancement but also promote the profitable exploitation of research results for the benefit of industry and the citizens.
