Doctoral Student and Postdoctoral Researcher Positions in Wireless Communications

Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC) at the University of Oulu is offering several positions for new doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers. CWC is one of the leading research groups in the field with contacts to several other major research groups globally.These particular positions are opened for the Wireless Innovation between Finland and US (WiFiUS) virtual institute, and they offer a possibility to carry out thesis work in close co-operation with leading US research groups.

We are looking for doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers who are interested in fundamental research on future wireless networks, more specifically in one of the following projects:

• Cognitive Capacity Harvesting Networks
• Economic Models for Collaborative Access Network Provisioning
• Energy Efficient Cognitive Networking
• Reconfigurable Antenna-based Enhancement of Dynamic Spectrum Access Algorithms
• Robust and Secure Cognitive Radio Networks

As a doctoral student you will carry out research work, attend post graduate courses and complete your doctoral thesis. We offer you a competitive salary. The expected time for completing doctoral thesis is 3-4 years.

As a postdoctoral researcher you will conduct high-quality research, participate in student advising and potentially take part in teaching.

To successfully occupy the position of a doctoral student or a postdoctoral researcher, you must possess an applicable Master of Science degree (for doctoral students) and/or an Dr.Sc. (Tech.) / Ph.D. degree (for postdoctoral researchers) with excellent grades. In addition to that, we appreciate:

• motivation and efficiency
• strong fundamental knowledge on wireless communication systems and underlying fundamental theory as well as mathematics
• readiness for new challenges and traveling
• co-operational skills
