The final demonstration of the integrated Euler communication system based on SDR platforms and COTS technology will be organized on 29th of March in TNO premises in the Hague, The Netherlands.

Three new deliverables of the Euler project have been uploaded to the Euler pages (see section "Deliverables"). D4.1 contains the ESRA (European Software Radio Architecture) recommendations and maturation.
D5.4 details the study of satellite communication for public safety communications in general and for Euler architecture in particular. In D7.1, the candidate demonstration setups are described.

An Euler article "Employing Software Defined Radio for International public Safety " by Sturman et al. will be published and presented in 7th Karlsruhe Workshop on Software Radios in 7/8 March, 2012. The paper details some of the EULER achievements at the integration stage as the overall architecture is validated as the Euler-consortium is preparing for final demonstration during spring 2012.
October 2011
An Euler-article titled "The EULER Project: Application of Software Defined Radio in Joint Security Operations" by G. Baldini et al. has been published in IEEE Communications Magazine October 2011 issue (vol. 49, no. 10, pages 55 - 62). The paper provides an overview of the project goals and approaches.

Euler project will be presented in 2011 Wireless Innovation Forum European Conference on Communications Technologies and Software Defined Radio (SDR'11 - WInnComm - Europe). The conference will be held in Brussels, Belgium on 22.-25. June, 2011. Invited Euler presentation will be given by Bruno Calvet (Thales Communications, France) in session 7.3.

Timo Bräysy (CWC) and Giacomo Bacci (Uni. of Pisa) will organize a special session in one of the most important cognitive radio conferences next year, CrownCom 2011, which will be held in Yokohama 31. May - 3. June. The session will be titled: "Cognitive Radio in Public safety communications" http://www.crowncom.org/2011/.
Due to Japan earthquake and tsunami the CrownCom conference was moved to Osaka. Also the planned special session on public safety communications was cancelled.

During June 2010 the novel technical solutions developed in Euler project were presented in two international workshops. In European Reconfigurable Radio technologies workshop (21.-23. June, Mainz, Germany) Euler transceiver facility v3 implementation was presented in detail and in JRC Interoperability workshop (June 28.-29., Ispra, Italy), the SDR-technology based Euler solution was presented. Both presentation are available in the Dissemination section.

Euler has been invited to participate to the conference to be organized by PSCE (Public Safety Communications Europe, http://www.psc-europe.eu/). The event will take place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 30. November to 1. December.

Euler project will participate in the the 2010 European Reconfigurable Radio Technologies Workshop to be held in Mainz, Germany on June 23-25.
The presentation "EULER project: Vision for interoperability in joint operations for restoring safety after crisis" will be given in "SDR and CR in Public Safety" session by Eric Nicollet from Thales Communications France.

The 3rd Civil Protection Forum organized last year on 25.-26. November was a success. Euler, among other exhibitors, received a huge amount of attention in the exhibition. Below is the official statement from organizers to exhibitors:

Thank you very much for participating in the Civil Protection Forum. You contributed to making this event a huge success. With over 800 visitors, 48 speakers and 52 exhibitors, this has been the largest Civil Protection Forum to date.
The exhibition was very popular and the three sections - training centres, international partners and innovative technology - attracted a good mix of participants and reflected the variety of ongoing initiatives in civil protection.

The first Euler end-user workshop was arranged in conjunction with the Civil Protection Forum in Brussels on November 26, 2009. In addition to several Euler partners, End User representatives from CELAR (Centre Electronique de l’Armement), ENSOSP (Ecole Nationale des Officiers Sapeurs Pompiers), SIRDEE (Sistema de Radiocomunicaciones Digitales de Emergencia del Estado) and NPIA (National Policing Improvement Agency) attended the meeting. Also, a representative from PSCE (Public Safety Communications Europe) was present.

A three-year project of developing the next generation emergency radio system for the EU countries has been launched. Project Euler, or European software defined radio for wireless in joint security operations, is a major undertaking of 19 partners coordinated by Thales Communications France.
