The public seminar organised by the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC) of the University of Oulu and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland offers a concise view on the latest research results produced in Tekes/GIGA funded COGNAC, MITSE, PANU and WINNER+ projects. The programme of the event has been built around three topics - cognitive networks, next generation radio access, and analyses and measurements for new network topologies - which introduce the challenges of alternative technologies for IMT-Advanced and other future wireless systems. In addition, invited talks by Mr. Tommi Koivisto, Research Specialist, Nokia and Mr. Gustavo Wagner, Aalborg University/NSN cover essential questions related to the beyond 3G Long Term Evolution in terms of LTE-Advanced and spectrum sharing through game-theoretic approaches.
GIGA - Converging Networks programme was launced by Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, in 2005. The five-year programme will end in 2010. The programme is a combination of research and industrial projects working together for a common goal. In addition to project funding, GIGA offers networking, seminars, market and technology surveys to its participants.
